A. Silvotourism programme in the Cindrel Mountains
program_silvoturism_a_01 a) The organization

This programme is organized by the “Valea Cibinului” (The Cibin Valley) park rangers of Sibiu under the aegis of The National Administration of the Forests – an institution to which The Cindrel Mountains belong to.

The programme mainly addresses to the foreign tourists as they have understood both the necessity of touristic activities based on the protection & preservation of nature and their wilingness to notice them and to recreate themseves in a natural and wild environment.
This programme lasts for 4 days in groups of 4 to 10 persons.

b) The material basis

  • Tocile Cabin (4 stars) – the centre of information by means of images and documents about the area that is to be covered during the programme;
  • The “Paltinis” (The Sycamore – Maple Grove), The “Poienita” (The Little Clearing), and The “Pisc” (The Peak) Cabins offer modern board and lodging;
  • Field equipment (means of transport etc.);
  • Media equipment.

program_silvoturism_a_02 c) The steps of the programme

The programme is structured in such a manner that it comprises as many objectives to visit as possible, and the tourist may be well informed about the purity of the afforested ecosystems, of the barren alpines, waters and atmosphere.

DAY I

  • The tourists are accommodated at the Tocile Cabin where the documents and images about the Sibiu county and The “Valea Cibinului” (The Valley of Cibin). Forestry are presented to them;
  • The routes and the objectives that are to be covered are presented to them;
  • The forestry species and ornaments of the Tocile nursery are presented;
  • Lunch at The Tocile Cabin;
  • After lunch, a short walk in Cisnadie, and Cisnadioara, visiting the medieval fortresses and the natural monument of "Piatra Broastei" (The Frog’s Stone) from “Valea de Argint” (The Silver Valley).
  • Return to The Tocile Cabin to serve the supper and a walk on the paths of the near by forest.

DAY II

  • Trip to “Gura Râului” (The Mouth of the River), to the accumulation lake “Râul Mic” (The Rivulet), “Foltea” – “Poenita” (The Little Clearing) – where lunch is served. Excursion on horseback through the forests where wild animals live, watching their traces and with a little bit of luck, it is possible to catch sight of wild animals in their natural environment.

DAY III

  • Excursion to “Cheile Cibinului” (The Cibin Keys). Lunch is served at “Paltinis” Cabin (The Sycamore – Maple Grove Cabin) After lunch, bear, roc and mountain cock watch, and a trip to visit “Paltinis” Station (The Sycamore – Maple Grove Station), Noica’s memorial house, and the hermitage.

DAY IV
  • Excursion to the “Rozdesti” sheepfold where shepherd’s specialties are served for lunch. • The farewell party with broiled ram and a camp fire.

d) Costs:
The cost of such a complete programme is 80 € for person.
