B. Silvotourism programme in the Cindrel Mountains
program_silvoturism_b_01 a) The organization
This programme is organized by the “Valea Cibinului” (The Cibin Valley) park rangers of Sibiu under the aegis of The National Administration of the Forests, the institution to which The Cindrel Mountains belong to. The programme addresses mainly to the foreign tourists as they have understood the necessity of activities based on the protection and preservation of nature and their will to notice and take rest in a natural and wild environment.

This programme lasts for 5 days and it is addressed to groups of 4 to 10 persons.

  • The Tocile Cabin (4 stars) is the center of information; by means of images and documents about the area that is to be covered during the programme.
  • The “Paltinis”, “Poienita” and “Pisc” Cabin (The Sycamore – Maple Grove Cabin, The Little Clearing Cabin, The Peak Cabin) offer modern board and lodging;
  • Field equipment (means of transport etc.);
  • Media equipment.

c) The steps of the programme
The programme is structured in such a manner that it comprises as many objectives as possible, and the tourist may benefit from a large number of information regarding the wild existance of the area.

DAY I

  • The tourists are accommodate at The Tocile Cabin where the documents and images about the Sibiu county and The “Valea Cibinului” (The Cibin Valley) Forestry are presented;
  • The routes and objectives that they are to cover are presented to them;
  • The forestry species and ornaments of the Tocile nursery are presented to them;
  • Lunch;
  • After lunch, a short walk in Cisnadie, and Cisnadioara, visiting the medieval fortress and the natural monument of “Piatra Broastei” (The Frog’s Stone) from “Valea de Argint” (The Silver Valley);
  • Return to the Tocile Cabin for supper, and visit the surroundings.

DAY II

  • Excursion to “Gura Râului” (The Mouth of the River) to the accumulation lake, and upstream an “Râul Mic” (The Rivulet), “Strâmba” (The Crooleed) – “Poenita” (The Little Clearing) – where lunch is served. After lunch, excursion on horseback through the forests where wild animals live, watching their traces, and with a little bit of luck, it is possible to catch sight of wild animals in their natural environment.
  • Excursions on horseback to the clearings where sheep crop. Supper is served at “Poenita” Cabin (The Little Clearing Cabin);

DAY III

  • Excursion through “Cheile Cibinului” (Cibin Embanhment), to Paltinis Cabin (Sycamore – Maple Grove Cabin) where lunch is served. After lunch, bear, roc and mountain cock watch, and a trip to “Paltinis” Station (Sycamore – Maple Grove Station), and visit to Noica’s memorial house.

DAY IV

  • Excursion to “Rozdesti” sheepfold where shepherd’s specialties are served for lunch. After lunch, trip to “Vârful Cindrel” (Cindrel Peak) and the glacial lake from “Iezerul Mare” Natural Reservation. Supper is served at “Cindrel” Shelter. The night is spent at the Shelter below “Iezer” where juniper parfume is in the air.

DAY V
  • Return to Paltinis Cabin (Sycamore – Maple Grove Cabin) where lunch is served at “Craciuneasa” (Santa Claus’ Wife) pension. Supper with broiled ram and camp fire.

d) Costs:
The cost of such a complete programme is 150 € for one person.
