C. Silvotourism programme in the Cindrel Mountains
program_silvoturism_c_01 a) The organization
This programme is organized by “Valea Cibinului” (The Cibin Valley) park rangers of Sibiu, under the aegis of The National Administration of the Forests, institution to which The Cindrel Mountains belong to. The programme addresses mainly to the foreign tourists as they have understood the necessity of touristic activities based on the protection and preservation of nature, as well as due to their wish to see them happening & recreate themselves in a natural and wild environment.
This programme lasts for three days and is eligible for groups of 4 to 10 persons.

b) The material base
  • program_silvoturism_c_02 Tocile Cabin (4 stars) – is the information centre by means of images and documents about the area that is to be covered during the programme;
  • “Paltinis”, “Poienita” si “Pisc” Cabins (Sycamore – Maple Grove, Little Clearing and Peak Cabins) – offer modern board and lodging;
  • Field equipment (means of transport etc.)
  • Media equipment.

c) The steps of the programme

The programme is structured in such a manner that it comprises as many objectives to visit as possible, and the tourist benefits from a lot of information concerning the wild life of the area.

DAY I

  • The tourists are accommodated at Tocile Cabin where documents and images about the Sibiu county and The “Valea Cibin” (The Cibin Valley);
  • The routes and objectives that are to be covered are presented to them;
  • The forestry and ornamental species from Tocile nurssery are presented;
  • Lunch;
  • After lunch, a short walk in Cisnadie and Cisnadioara to visit the medieval fortresses and “Piatra Broastei” (The Frog’s Stone), a natural monument from “Valea de Argint” (The Silver Valley).
  • Return to Tocile Cabin. Supper. The evening walk on the paths of the forest.

DAY II

  • Excursion to “Gura Râului” (The Mouth of the River), the accumulation lake, The Cibin Embankment, and “Paltinis” (Sycamore – Maple Grove) where lunch is served. After lunch, bear watch, visiting the station and Noica’s memorial house, and a sleigh walk. Supper at “Paltinis” Cabin (Sycamore – Maple Grove Cabin).
  • Excursions on horseback in the forests where wild animals live, watching the traces in the nature, and with a little bit of luck, wild animals can be seen in their natural environment;
  • Excursions on horse back in the cropped by sheep clearings, after which supper is serveal at Paltinis Cabin (Sycamore – Maple Grove Cabin);

DAY III

  • Snowmobile excursions in the Cindrel Mountains forests where traces of wolves, lynxes, roc deer, mountain cocks, etc. can be noticed. Having reached the top of a hill, zou have the occasion to hear the wolves howling on the guide’s provokings, as the guides are trained to provoke the wolves howl;
  • During the evening, slides and mouvies, mulled wine, and autlaw supper.

d) Costs:
The costs of such a complete programme is 150 € for each person.
